  • Bulky/Chenille yarn
  • Yarn used in this pattern: Kartopu Yumurcak
  • Mustard and Pink
  • Worsted weight yarn in Black color for mouth
  • (and optional for hands using 2.5 mm crochet hook)
  • 4.5 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle for sewing
  • 8 mm and 12 mm safety eyes
  • Fiberfill
  • Scissors

Pattern Notes

  • The pattern works in continuous rounds, except for the ribbon
  • Tight stitches are recommended
  • Maintain consistent tension. Adjust the hook size if needed.
  • [ … ] – repeat the instructions inside the bracket

Mr Potato

Use mustard bulky/chenille yarn
12 mm safety eyes

round 1: Magic ring with 8 sc (8)

round 2: Inc around (16)

round 3: [1 sc, inc] x8 (24)

rounds 4-5: Sc all around (24)

round 6: [6 sc, dec] x3 (21)

round 7: Sc all around (21)

round 8: [6 sc, inc] x3 (24)

round 9: [3 sc, inc, 4 sc] x3 (27)

round 10: [8 sc, inc] x3 (30)

rounds 11-14: Sc all around (30)

Insert eyes between rounds 7 and 8 with 5 stitches gap. Before you close the potato, fill in with fiberfill gradually.

round 15: [3 sc, dec] x6 (24)

round 16: [1 sc, dec, 1 sc] x6 (18)

round 17: Dec all around (9)

Fasten off, then cut and hide the yarn. Use black yarn to embroider a small “V” mouth. Hide the yarn tail in the body.


Finished size:
~15 cm (6 in)

Baby Potato

Use mustard bulky/chenille yarn
8 mm safety eyes

round 1: Magic ring with 8 sc (8)

round 2: Inc around (16)

rounds 3-4: Sc all around (16)

round 5: [2 sc, dec] x4 (12)

round 6: Inc all (24)

round 7: Sc all around (24)

round 8: [6 sc, dec] x3 (21)

Insert eyes between rounds 4 and 5 with 3 stitches gap. Before you close the potato, fill in with fiberfill gradually.

round 9: [5 sc, dec] x3 (18)

round 10: Dec all (9)

Fasten off, then cut and hide the yarn. Use black yarn to embroider a small “V” mouth. Hide the yarn tail in the body.

~8 cm (3.2 in)

Mrs Potato

Use mustard bulky/chenille yarn
12 mm safety eyes

Ribbon

Use pink bulky/chenille yarn

ch 4 foundation chain

work on the first foundation chain:

2 dc, ch 3, sl st, 2 dc, ch 3, sl st.

Cut a long tail, wrap around 6-8x in the middle, and secure by tying up. Sew it onto the top right side of the head

Hands

This is optional for Mr and Mrs Potato. Use a black worsted weight yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook.

ch 10 foundation chain, sl st on the second ch from the hook, then sl st again in the next 2 sts, [ch 3, sl st on the second ch from the hook, 2 sl st] x2, 6 sc, fasten off. Cut a yarn tail to sew.

Assemble the hands
Use a yarn needle and sew the hands on both sides.
